With two days in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire, you will have time to explore the splendor of this fascinating location and get to know some of the cultural and historical wonders that are nestled within its surroundings.

Plan your visit to this charming village.  There are many accommodation options in Saltaire and Airedale. Hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs offer a more traditional experience, while holiday lodges and serviced apartments are ideal for those seeking independence.


TWO DAYS INSPIRATION

Day One

MORNING:

Once you reach the charming village of Saltaire, you will discover that it is conveniently and easily reachable via train.  Take some time to explore the historic streets along the Saltaire Heritage Trail.  Stroll past the lions guarding the public buildings on Victoria Road and admire the impressive United Reformed Church, which is designed in a classical Italianate style.

LUNCH:

On Victoria Road in Saltaire, there are plenty of options for lunch at various bars, cafés, and coffee shops. Some of these places have great views of Victoria Hall and Salts Mill. While you're there, don't forget to check out the unique boutique shops.

AFTERNOON:

A visit to Saltaire is incomplete without exploring Salts Mill, which has many attractions including three galleries showcasing David Hockney's artwork, a bookshop, a diner, a restaurant, and various specialty shops. It is recommended to allocate a few hours for this experience.

EVENING:

If you head to Bingley Road, you will come across a variety of excellent restaurants and bistros such as The Pepper Mill, Jinnah Bistro, and La Rue. These places would all be wonderful options for dinner, and there are also nearby bars if you want to have some drinks afterward. Beer enthusiasts should definitely check out the Cap and Collar, where they can try out a selection of high-quality craft beers.


Day Two

MORNING:

Start your day by stopping for a coffee on Victoria Road and enjoy a leisurely stroll.  You can choose to do a three-mile picturesque Leeds-Liverpool Canal walk from Saltaire to the impressive Bingley Five Rise Locks, and back by train, or explore Roberts Park, appreciate the views of Salts Mill, visit the bandstand, take the Shipley Glen Tramway to Shipley Glen.

AFTERNOON:

Just a quick bus ride from Saltaire, you can visit Cartwright Hall Art Gallery and see more artwork by David Hockney, a famous artist from Bradford. If the weather is nice, you can also explore Lister Park, which boasts a stunning Mughal water garden and has been recognised with a green flag award.

EVENING:

If you’re in the mood for live music, check out The Live Room shows at Caroline Street Social Club for the top international live folk, roots, and acoustic music. Alternatively, you can take the train to Bingley Little Theatre nearby for family shows and musical theatre.

    The Leeds - Liverpool Canal is one of the longest canals in England and passes through Bradford district. It is a lovely place for a stroll or cycle.

  8. Cartwright Hall Art Gallery

    The Live Room is located in Caroline Social Club, Caroline Street in the World Heritage village of Saltaire in West Yorkshire.

  11. Bingley Arts Centre

    Bingley

    Bingley Arts Centre is a fully equipped community theatre that is popular for amateur dramatics, dance, musical productions and other social events. There are bar facilities and car parking.
