Here's a two-day itinerary to make the most of Ilkley's stunning landscapes:

DAY ONE:

Start your outdoor adventure with a 7-mile walk exploring the full length and breadth of Ilkley Moor, with the chance to spot the iconic Cow and Calf Rocks.  A refreshing walk in the footsteps of the giant Rombald it takes you through wild, open moorland.  For a more leisurely stroll, walk along the Heritage Trail and the Blue Plaque Trail of the town.  After a day of sightseeing, relax and enjoy a fantastic meal at one of Ilkley's many restaurants.

DAY TWO:

Day two of your trip to Ilkley is sure to be a day of adventure and relaxation.  Start the day with a refreshing swim at Ilkley Lido, which offers fabulous panoramic views across Ilkley Moor.  Then visit the picturesque Riverside Gardens along the banks of the River Wharfe.  The gardens are a great place to unwind, there are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the view, as well as the riverside "Takeaway Cabin" where you can grab a bite to eat and enjoy ice cream, refreshments and fish and chips. The gardens also feature a children's playground for the little ones to run around and explore.

In the afternoon, take a walk in Middleton Woods, beautiful in any season, but particularly beautiful in spring, with its carpet of bluebells.  Enjoy the fresh air and peaceful atmosphere of the woodland before returning to the centre to stroll the tree-lined streets and admire the architecture of the town's buildings.  After some shopping and sightseeing, head to Ilkley Playhouse to take in a show.

OPTIONAL:

If you have an extra day, you can continue the journey to Bolton Abbey or start the Dales Way.  Whichever activity you choose, you are guaranteed to have a great time.
