WATERWAYS INSPIRATION

The Leeds-Liverpool Canal is a wonderful waterway that runs through the heart of Yorkshire in northern England.  It stretches for 127 miles and passes through some of the most picturesque countryside and lovely towns and villages in the Bradford district.

Saltaire Brewery is a must-see for any walk along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The brewery is a popular destination and offers a variety of tours, tastings, and events.  Take a tour of the brewery and learn about the brewing process.  Of course, you can't leave without enjoying a pint of your favourite beer at the brewery's taproom.

After the brewery tour, make your way along the canal to Saltaire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Here you will discover the stunning architecture of the village, designed by the famous industrialist Sir Titus Salt. Be sure to visit Roberts Park with its riverside views, and Salts Mill, with its many shops, cafés, and galleries.

Continue along the scenic canal towpath until you reach the charming town of Bingley.  See the impressive Three and Five Rise Locks, remarkable feats of engineering, and it's worth stopping to see the locks in action.

End the day by chilling out in Bingley.  Enjoy yummy local grub and drinks at one of the cool pubs and restaurants nearby.  You can also take the train back to Saltaire and go on a culinary adventure with food from around the world.

A recommended time to visit is late summer, for the annual Bradford Dragon Boat Festival, where teams compete in a thrilling river race.  This event celebrates the community's love of the waterways that flow through Saltaire.
