Funny Face

About

A timeless and elegant musical feast starring Audrey Hepburn that seamlessly combines romance, comedy and fashion.

Critically praised for its stylish direction and Hepburn’s charismatic presence, Funny Face is celebrated for its musical and dance numbers, including "S’Wonderful" and "He Loves and She Loves" composed by the legendary George and Ira Gershwin.

Hepburn stars as bookshop clerk Jo Stockton discovered by a fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire) and whisked away to Paris for a glamorous modelling career. Set against the backdrop of the City of Light, Funny Face delivers old Hollywood romance, sparkling humour and Hepburn’s trademark radiance.

Shot in vibrant Technicolor and on 35mm VistaVision, Funny Face is the archetype of the rich colour palette afforded by the format, which is almost eye-popping when paired with its remarkable fidelity. The cinematography beautifully highlights the grandeur of Parisian landmarks and the haute couture fashion of the era, capturing the beauty of the films many custom-designed gowns by Hubert de Givenchy.
