About

Closed for refurbishment from Tuesday, 19th November until Friday, 13th December

Part of Bradford District Museum and Galleries, , Cartwright Hall was purpose built on the former site of Manningham Hall and opened as a gallery in 1904.  It is locating in Green-Flag awarded Lister Park, about a mile from Bradford City Centre.

It offers an exciting programme of exhibitions, alongside permanent galleries displaying items predominantly (but not exclusively) from our art collections.

Included in those permanent galleries is the ‘Hockney Gallery’ , dedicated to
the work of Bradford born artist David Hockney, It includes early work and provides an introduction to his life and art with a particular focus on Yorkshire and Bradford – David frequently visited Cartwright Hall to study and sketch.

In need of a snack or a slice of cake?  You’ll find the Refreshment Room Café at the bottom of the building, in its original 1904 location.  A perfect spot to rest and refresh before you continue to explore.

Bradford District Museums & Galleries are a family friendly organisation.  We regularly organise free events, activities and workshops across all four sites particularly during the school holiday periods – check www.bradfordmuseum.org for the latest events and activities on offer.

Supported using public funding from Arts Council England.
