Keighley

Keighley is a bustling town located in Brontë Country, less than 4 miles from Haworth, the village once home to the Brontës.There are plenty of opportunities to shop and dine in Keighley and the popular Cavendish Street is a good place to start for local independent shops. The Airedale Shopping Centre also has lots to offer with its high street names. 

In Keighley you will find an array of attractions, including Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, a heritage railway which tours the Worth Valley. The railway featured in the film The Railway Children, its 2022 sequel The Railway Children Return and many other modern classics. Cliffe Castle Museum and Park, originally the spectacular mansion of the local Victorian millionaire the house is now a free museum with a wide variety of displays surrounded by an extensive park which includes Victorian glass houses, nature areas, ornamental water features and a fantastic children's playground.

Nearby, East Riddlesden Hall is a fine example of a 17th century manor house and is a National Trust Property. The property has stunning gardens, tea room and a varied programme of events. Over in Ingrow visit Rail Story with historic carriages and the stories behind them.

The town has lots to offer visitors with its many attractions and the surrounding countryside.The town's industries have typically been in textiles, particularly wool and cotton processing. In addition to the manufacture of textiles there were several large factories making textile machinery.
