The villages of Oakworth, Oxenhope and Stanbury are all located in a rural area surrounding Haworth and close to Keighley.
Oakworth station is a popular stop on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, famous from its starring role in the 1970 film The Railway Children as well the 2022 sequel, The Railway Children Return. The station at Oxenhope is the terminus of the line which connects Haworth, Oakworth, Damems, Ingrow and Keighley.
Holden Park is at the heart of Oakworth. Created in 1925, the park was built on the former gardens of Oakworth House and still contains many unique and interesting historical features. These include the man-made rockeries and grottos, mosaics and the surviving portico from the original house.
Oxenhope is a small village close to Haworth, the village is surrounded by open moorland, with many walking routes to be explored. The village is also well-known for the The Oxenhope Straw Race, a team event in which competitors complete a 2.5 mile course around the village carrying a bale of straw and stopping at each pub on the route for a pint of beer. Many contestants choose to dress up in costumes. The event benefits local charities and always draws many spectators.
Stanbury sits on the walking route to Top Withens (thought to be the inspiration for Wuthering Heights) and is popular with hikers as well as nature enthusiasts, the moor is an important natural area and is home to varied wildlife, wildflowers and grasses, with heather being the most predominant, seen at its best from mid-August to early September. The village has a couple of pubs offering refreshments and bus connections towards Haworth and Keighley.
