Cathedrals Cycle Relay 2023

About

the Cathedrals Cycle Route is an almost 2,000 mile route that travels between all 42 English Church of England cathedrals. The annual relay – where riders can take part in individual legs of the route – returns in 2025, and will start at Bradford Cathedral as Bradford celebrates being the UK City of Culture.

The launch event will be held here on Saturday 24th May at 10:30am, with live music, speeches and special guests, before we head off on a cycle (at around 11:30am) to Wakefield Cathedral via Dewsbury Minster.

The ride is a total of around 20 miles. The distance to Dewsbury Minster is around 12 miles with an additional 8 miles to Wakefield Cathedral. Participants in the ride are welcome to cycle some or all of it, and can return back to the start by train from either Dewsbury or Wakefield. We expect riders will leave in waves depending on their availability.

The cut off time for arrival at Wakefield Cathedral (for refreshments and welcome) will be around 3:30pm, when their evening prayer begins.

You can find out more about the Cathedrals Cycle Route on the Cycling UK website or this specific leg on their dedicated page.
