About
In this fifth wellbeing walk, participants will step back in time in the formal gardens at Cliffe Castle Park. The walk will retrace the past, exploring the historical exercise and wellbeing practices that have shaped this beloved green space into what it is today. Attendees will learn how outdoor wellbeing activities can be connected with indoor exhibitions, enhancing winter walks for families and community groups by making the most of both the park’s green space and museum exhibits.
A Cliffe Castle Museum expert will guide the group through the museum with a talk about its history, from private estate to public park, followed by a Q&A session.
Val Preston, an experienced wellbeing professional, qualified personal trainer, and Tai Chi instructor, will lead the walk. Val will inspire participants to engage their senses during a slow-paced walk, focusing on breathing techniques for relaxation both in the park and within the museum.
Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing for the day, as some of the walk will be outdoors. The group will meet at the first glasshouse by the flagpole. As some of the walk will be on parkland paths, flat shoes are recommended.
The aim of this event is to inspire participants to enjoy walks with friends and family, experience community walks in green spaces, and understand how mental health and overall wellbeing improve through outdoor sensory activities throughout the seasons.
While the event is open to all, spaces are limited, so booking is essential. Reservations can be made via email at ccsgcomms@gmail.com.
