An old photograph of a town

About

The exhibition from Ilkley Civic Society and the Local History Hub contains contemporary photographs of the Great Ilkley Flood.

On 12 July 1900, during a hot summer, there was a torrential thunderstorm over Ilkley Moor. The driving rain burst the town’s becks, demolishing buildings and tearing up streets. A man died when the old coaching works collapsed. See photographs depicting this devastating natural event and learn more about this historic moment in Ilkley’s past.
