KWVR Flying Scotsman

The world’s most famous steam locomotive ‘Flying Scotsman’, will be visiting The Keighley & Worth Valley throughout May.

Thousands of spectators are expected to visit when the world-famous Flying Scotsman comes to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. 2023 marks 100 years since the locomotive entered service, and what better way to celebrate the milestone event than a ride behind it.

The locomotive will be hauling services along the Worth Valley Railway from Keighley to Oxenhope, for five days at the end of May from the 25th to the 29th. Take in the atmosphere of the bygone age at the KWVR this May, with this global celebrity at the head of your train. The combination of the steam, smell and the Bronte line is more than enough to bring back those memories of a very different world decades ago, perhaps from your childhood.

Before hauling services, the locomotive will be on static display at Ingrow West, providing the opportunity to step onboard the footplate of the icon and walk through the corridor tender. There will be a schedule of events taking place around the static display, including Fine Dining, Live Music and a Flying Scotsman Festival Weekend with plenty of activities for everyone.

“It’s a real honour for our railway to be the Yorkshire host of the legendary Flying Scotsman in its centenary year. We look forward to welcoming the nation’s favourite steam loco to the Worth Valley metals and sharing the experience with our visitors, with opportunities to ride on trains hauled by Flying Scotsman and to join us in a month-long festival of activities.“ commented KWVR Chairman Matt Stroh.

A limited number of tickets will be available to enjoy a Cream Tea in a box on board a 1930s Pullman Carriages or 1960s Restaurant Car, which will be hauled by Flying Scotsman.

Price for standard class start from £32.00 for an adult & £22.00 for children; this includes a full line return trip behind Flying Scotsman, a Day Rover with unlimited travel on other services running on the day of your booking, and free entry to the two accredited Museums at Ingrow.

Advanced tickets for the Flying Scotsman Festival can be bought online via the website kwvr.co.uk from Saturday, 11th February
