The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway have launched a brand-new menu of on-train dining experiences for their 2024 Spring and Summer season.
One of the UK’s leading heritage steam railway lines and a top tourist attraction in West Yorkshire, the Keighley& Worth Valley are now offering a mixture of three brand new menus and two firm visitor favourites on their dining trains.
Now diners can have that special taste for Yorkshire hospitality as they wallow in nostalgia while eating in 1950s and 60s splendour dining cars hauled by one of the railway’s fleet of veteran steam locomotives.
On offer will be ‘Yorkshire Antipasti’, ‘The Stoker’s Lunch’ and the ‘Modern Afternoon Tea’ in addition to the ‘Classic Afternoon Tea’ and the railway’s regular Fish and Chip special, the ‘Haworth Haddock’.
The Railway’s Catering Manager Nick Sharp said: “The Keighley &Worth Valley Railway is a multi-age group experience, and we want to offer the kind of menus that attract everybody.
We’ve conducted some market research within the heritage railway sector and have concluded that we can do so much more.
The new items on the Dining Train are designed to widen our appeal to as many people as possible.
The Modern Afternoon tea moves away from the traditional Afternoon Tea’s sandwich and cake offering while the Stokers’ Lunch is our take on the traditional Ploughman’s Lunch.
With the anti-pasti menu we’re working with Lishman’s of Ilkley, an award-winning butcher who deliver’s Italian-style dishes using Yorkshire ingredients. Thus, we can offer Yorkshire Salamia nd the same kind of take on other Mediterranean-style dishes.
And so far the reaction to this catering development has been great.”
Passengers can choose whether they eat in the stylish surroundings of a 1960s Dining Car or in the sumptuous comfort of a 1930s Pullman Car.
The new Dining Car experiences will be offered to visitors throughout the late Spring and Summer from May until August and passengers can check their availability through the Railway’s web site: kwvr.co.uk/dining-trains
