Following a residency at the University of Bradford’s Theatre in the Mill, the National Science and Media Museum’s Pictureville Cinema will be returning to The Studio, while the main cinema remains temporarily closed.

Returning on 23 May, Pictureville Presents: Cinema at The Studio will be bringing audiences a programme of independent and world cinema, plus special collaborations, and family favourites throughout May half term.

Featured film seasons include Acts of Rebellion, provocative films following characters rebelling against the norm; Star Nhà Ease, the best of Vietnamese cinema, making its debut to UK audiences; and animated favourites exploring New Worlds as part of Kids’ Club.  A new Kids’ Club loyalty scheme will also be launched over May half term, offering two free tickets after every fourth visit.

Wrapping up the programme at the end of June will be the Northern premiere of The Queen of My Dreams (2023), in partnership with the Yorkshire Indian Film Festival, and a special collaboration with Yorkshire’s Queer Fear, screening queer thrillers to mark Pride Month in June.

Sally Folkard, Head of Screen and Cultural Engagement commented: “After a five-week residency up at Theatre in the Mill, we’re really excited to return to The Studio with another fantastic film programme. Cinemagoers can expect a diverse programme of classic and world cinema plus some special collabs to mark Pride Month. We look forward to welcoming audiences once again to The Studio, and back to Pictureville at the museum once it reopens.”

Pictureville Cinema remains closed as Reinforced Aerated Autoclave Concrete (RAAC) remediation works continue.
