Discover the hidden treasures of East Riddlesden Hall and uncover the secrets of the past.
This August, East Riddlesden Hall, Keighley, invites you to embark on a unique journey into the past with their brand-new "Hidden Treasures" tour. Join them as they unveil rare and previously unseen collection items, offering an exclusive glimpse into the collection housed in this remarkable 17th-century manor house.
Lasting approximately 45 minutes, the Hidden Treasures tour is a captivating exploration of East Riddlesden Hall’s most intriguing artifacts. At the heart of the Hidden Treasures tour is the arsenic box—an unassuming yet dangerous artifact. Lined with green Victorian wallpaper, the box showcases a vibrant hue that was all the rage in the 1850s. However, this brilliant colour came at a cost. Though fashionable, the wallpaper’s arsenic content rendered it lethally toxic, and even today, the box remains highly dangerous.
This summer, visitors will have the rare opportunity to view this fascinating piece of history up close. Along with other rare and unseen items, the new tour gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about the history of the collection at East Riddlesden Hall.
This tour is free to attend, though standard admission charges apply. National Trust members can enjoy free entry. There's no need to book in advance; tickets can be collected from our welcome team upon arrival and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
East Riddlesden Hall is open from Saturday to Wednesday, 10 am to 4 pm. We invite history enthusiasts, families, and curious minds to join us for this unique summer experience.
