Award-winning Independent Bookshop Wave of Nostalgia has announced a packed programme of events for April.
The month kicks off on 2nd April at 7PM with an evening with author Karen Campbell, winner of the ‘Best New Scottish Writer’ award who will read from and discuss her heartbreaking and hopeful new novel This Bright Life. It’s a story about messy lives, second chances and the many hands it takes to build a boy.
The monthly LGBTQ+ coffee & book group will be held at 11.30 on Sat 5th, where planning for Haworth Pride (to be held from 24-29 June) is picking up pace.
On Thursday 10th at 7PM we are delighted to be helping launch Lynn Knight’s new cosy crime novel Miss Burnham and the Loose Thread. Talented, ambitious designer-dressmaker Rose Burnham’s best client finds herself the victim of a deception - cheated out of her inheritance by a fake suitor. Rose is determined to bring the swindler to justice but discovers there is more to these investigations than she'd bargained for…
A major focus for Wave of Nostalgia this year is the environment. At 2.30PM on Saturday 18th at a free event, you are invited to bring along items of clothing to a mending workshop led by Diane and learn the skills to make items wearable again.
Essie Fox completes the lineup with her new gloriously gothic thriller, Dangerous. The best-selling author of The Fascination, set her historical novel in Venice with Lord Byron as it’s protagonist. Rich in gothic atmosphere and drawing on real events and characters from Byron’s life, Dangerous is a riveting historical thriller ~ as decadent and seductive as the poet himself. Essie will read from her book, answer questions and sign copies at 7PM on Wednesday 30th April.
Wave of Nostalgia owner, Diane Park says “I’m really proud of the programme of events this month – it’s a real mix from cosy crime through gritty family drama to climate-friendly crafting. I’m particularly delighted that Essie Fox will be making a welcome return to the village with her new novel which features her trademark dark gothic thrills – and maybe a vampire or two! If anyone is interested in helping with the first Haworth Pride, they’re most welcome to come along to our planning meeting on the 5th.” She adds “For anyone who can’t make it to Haworth many events will also be shared on Zoom”
